Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Works with engineering groups to ensure bills of material and purchase requisitions are received in the timeline required by the project schedule
Issues requests for quotation to suppliers for mechanical, hydraulic and MRO items
Obtains multiple competitive quotations for all items to the greatest extent possible
Leads cost saving and procurement efficiency initiatives
Works with suppliers to obtain maximum price discounts for mechanical & hydraulic items purchased on a repetitive basis
Manages existing supplier relationships and actively pursues new suppliers to provide increased availability of components required
Purchases all required mechanical & hydraulic items from suppliers on Macrodyne’s approved supplier list
Enters purchased component data into MS Excel based bills of material
Coordinates with production department to ensure that purchasing activities are aligned with production so that both purchased components and those manufactured are available at the same time as needed
Expedites purchases to ensure all items are received in the timeline required by the project schedule
Performs job duties in accordance with the requirements of the organizations ISO 9001 Quality Management System and identifies any non-conformances or possibilities for improvement
Post-secondary education in procurement and/or logistics. Professional designation preferred (or in progress), such as Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.)
3 -5 year’s experience in a similar role.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Interpersonal communication skills including the ability to prepare & deliver effective and professional verbal and written communications to various internal and external parties.
Strong negotiation skills.
Proficient with computer use, including MS Office and common purchasing software.
Comfortable working in a manual purchasing system environment (no ERP).
Experience with being part of an ERP implementation team considered an asset,
Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing work in an efficient manner.
Strong drive and initiative and ability to work independently under tight timelines and pressures with multiple competing deadlines.
Possesses solid judgement and reasoning skills and completes all tasks with high attention to detail.
